What about a Dead Monitor |
1. Does the Monitor light come on? The Green or yellow power light in the front. Is it on? If not, check the power cables to it. Also remember the power strip or UPS i.e. is there power. If not flip that switch or put in that plug.
2 Swap the monitor. If the other monitor also does not work then the problem is in the computer Video, which can be the Video Card or the Motherboard and CMOS. Check of course that the computer power light comes on and all the factor in the section on Dead Computer. If this section does not resolve the problem you'll have to take the computer in for repair.
3. Check those cables. In many cases we find that the monitor to computer Video card cable goes bad. Check it for the pins are they straight? Are the ones that should be there ,there. You should note that several of the 15 pins in the plug are not used but any bent or broken pin will indicate the fault.
If you determine that the monitor is the problem take it in for repair. Unless you are good at electronics this is one item that is dangerous to work on. The high voltage circuits crank out 25,000 volts and other parts are just as loaded and unless its out of the case you can't check very much anyway.
